Why mindset matters when growing your business

Why mindset matters when growing your business

Your mindset shapes your actions and decisions. How you feel and how you react will make a huge difference to the development of your business. Here’s some traits you’re going to need to develop to achieve an entrepreneurial mindset to grow your business.

Resilience

When growing your business there’s no doubt you’re going to face challenges. You need to be resilient. You’ll need to look at challenges and obstacles as ways to learn and grow. Learning from mistakes made is key to your development and success.

Adaptability

Whilst on your journey of growth you’ll have to make many changes along the way. Some of them may be difficult to implement, you’ll need to embrace it rather than shy away from it otherwise it will just hinder your growth. You will need to map out the steps you need to take to get to where you want to be. Create a risk assessment for each step so you’re prepared for the challenges that come with the changes.

Problem solving

As a bookkeeper I’m great at problem solving, in fact it’s something I love to do. As a business owner you will have faced many problems already but how you react to them and what action you take will determine the outcome. At LJM Bookkeeping we can support you through any financial challenges you may face. We give our clients an insight into their future finances through cash flow forecasting so they know what to expect and what to change to get to where they want to be.

Some of the problems you may face may involve hiring an expert so you can concentrate on the areas of your business that need you most. Don’t be afraid to invest in experts to help you along the way.

Self Development

In order to grow your business you’ve got to grow too. You’ve got to adapt to change, embrace challenges and change your outlook and mindset. There will be areas on your journey to success that you feel you need a little support or another perspective. Don’t shy away from investing in a mentor or business coach. A mentor has been in your position, they have made mistakes along the way which they have learnt from. This means they can advise you on what to do in order to not make the same mistakes.

A business coach will give you another perspective. They will assess your situation and give guidance on what steps to take.

You may feel you don’t need that kind of support, but listening to podcasts, reading mindset and business development books could give you new ideas.

Leadership

You will need to become a leader. You will need to take charge, make big decisions and if you have a team, become a role model to them. Inspiring the people you work with will give them motivation and they will become more productive to help you in your growth.

Whether you have a team or your subcontract to get the support you need in your business, share your goals with them, let them know when you hit your milestones. Give them goals to achieve which will contribute to the overall business growth. They are part of your business journey after all.

You’ll need to make big decisions and maybe take risks so having a leadership/entrepreneurial mindset will be essential. Don’t back away from these scary decisions, take charge, consider what’s best for your business and make the decision.

Have no regrets, if the path you take doesn’t go to plan, there’s always time to take an alternative path. It may take you a little longer but you will still get there in the end, with hard work, determination and a positive, entrepreneurial mindset.

API (Application Programming Interface) is a set of rules, protocols, and tools that allows different software applications to communicate with each other. APIs define the methods and data formats that you use to request and exchange information between software systems, enabling them to interact and integrate seamlessly. Learning what you can do with your software is key to building the best business processes.
