Why I only do the bookkeeping and not payroll and tax
Not all bookkeepers offer the same services and that’s absolutely fine. It wouldn’t be right for us all to be the same! That's why it’s important when looking for a bookkeeper that you find out exactly what they can assist you with. I’ve often been asked why I don’t offer payroll and tax services, so I thought I’d clear this up.
I like to specialise in getting the right software and introducing new processes in order to streamline the bookkeeping for my clients. This allows them to have more time to spend on the important things in their businesses like generating more income and allows me to deep dive into their bookkeeping.
You can find out so much information from analysing someone’s accounts. I find it so interesting. I’m able to use this data and help my clients to put goals in place for their business. I enjoy supporting my clients throughout their business journey and helping them to achieve a successful and profitable business.
I have an accountant that I work closely with, who can do the tax planning and to ensure that my clients get the best service possible. I also work with other bookkeepers who can provide payroll. Both areas are so complex, that by having a team of people, each specialising in an area it means everyone is up to date with the latest knowledge and can make sure everything is being done in the best way for the client.
If you already know me, you’ll know that I love software and automation. I like to concentrate on introducing new systems to ease the workload for myself and my clients. By not offering certain services such as payroll and tax it gives me the time to specialise, offering in depth bookkeeping with monthly reports and cash flow forecasts so that my clients can see where their business is heading. It means I can become much more than a compliance bookkeeper, instead helping with financial and advisory as well.
